Drumsticks, also known as moringa pods, are the long, green seed pods of the Moringa oleifera tree—often called the “miracle tree” for its exceptional nutritional and medicinal properties. Popular in Indian and South Asian cooking, drumsticks are prized for their tender interior pulp and subtly earthy flavor.
Typically cut into finger-length pieces and cooked in curries, dals, and stews, drumsticks are both flavorful and nutrient-dense. They are a good source of vitamin C, calcium, iron, and dietary fiber, and are known for their anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties.
While the outer skin is fibrous and often not eaten, the inner pulp and seeds are soft and can be scraped out after cooking. Moringa pods are a staple in traditional diets and Ayurvedic medicine, valued for their ability to support digestion, energy levels, and overall wellness.
